Tre’ Spadoni
Garden and Building Steward
Tre’ Spadoni is a native New Orleanian and a creative leader who views land-based work as a roadmap to personal and collective liberation. Tre’ first discovered the transformative power of sustainable agriculture as a Lead Farm Hand at Grow Dat Youth Farm from 2013 to 2015, where he mentored youth and developed his skills in crop production and community engagement. This early experience instilled in him a foundational belief that to grow food organically is to grow knowledge indefinitely.
Following a decade of incarceration at Dixon Correctional Institute, Tre’ returned home in July 2025 with a renewed commitment to using his lived experience as an asset for social change. During his time at Dixon, he maintained his connection to the natural world and honed his skills in woodworking, a craft which he sees as a metaphor for human growth. Just as planing rough poplar reveals vibrant colors beneath a weathered exterior, Tre’ believes in the ability to grow past extraordinary mistakes and turn dark histories into something beautiful.
As the Garden and Building Steward at Freedom to Grow, Tre’ works to keep Solitary Gardens and other satellite sites looking bright and beautiful. He brings a diverse technical toolkit to the role, including expertise in carpentry, general construction, and creative woodworking. Tre’ is also the founder of Prophet Propaganda, a creative brand that collaborates with incarcerated artists to amplify their voices through apparel and multimedia storytelling. For Tre’, this work is fueled by the belief that plants can teach us to be better people and that every garden is a site of possibility.
