PLANTS AND ABOLITION

Plants and Abolition is our monthly workshop series for herbalists, the apothecary and abolitionist-curious, and all plant lovers, regardless of experience.

Together, participants work with the plants currently growing in our gardens to make medicines that reflect the healing visions of our solitary gardeners.

In our first iteration, we worked with plants growing in Obie Weather’s garden at the St. Charles Center for Faith + Action, curated to support dental health as he struggles with inadequate dental care on death row in the Texas prison system. The group made herbal toothpaste and mouthwash made from mouth-supporting herbs like spilanthes, mint, and calendula. All proceeds from the workshop went to support his Freedom fund.
