PLANTING JUSTICE EL SOBRANTE FARMSTAND COLLABORATION

In this partnership with Planting Justice, we built two gardens, grown in collaboration with two people currently incarcerated in California: Loi Vo and Yolanda Harden. Their stories, shared through their garden design and plant choice, are beautiful tales of healing and transformation. Our traditional Revolutionary Mortar was adapted to reflect forced labor practices in California, where textiles are a major industry. We filled those prison-cells-turned-garden-beds with prison uniforms torn by folks once forced to wear them.

At the Planting Justice El Sobrante Farm Store, you’ll find balms, steams, tinctures and teas grown in collaboration with Obie Weathers — a brilliant artist, poet, and Solitary Gardener fighting for his life on death row in Texas.

Every leaf, every flower, every dollar from Obie’s Garden goes to his Life Fund — because nobody should have to be alone in the face of a system designed to disappear them. In a world sliding quickly toward fascism, collaboration is not just strategy — it’s survival. And it’s beautiful!

Check out Planting Justice’s incredible work - and next time you’re in the Bay Area, stop by their store, and pick up some our of products, made with the deepest love.
